Here's the straight answer. Across published US price guides, a standard real estate drone session costs $150–$500, and most photo-only listing shoots land between $150 and $350. In the UK, the equivalent range is roughly £120–£400 for a residential listing. In Cyprus, our launch pricing starts at €60 for ten edited aerial photos — and unlike most of the market, we publish every number. What moves you up or down the range is mostly four things: the size of the property, whether you want video as well as photos, when you shoot (twilight costs more), and how fast you need the files back.
The frustrating part of researching this topic is that almost nobody who flies drones for a living will tell you a price until you've filled in a form. Most of what ranks for "drone photography cost" is either written for photographers deciding what to charge, or gives you a range with no explanation of what's inside it. This guide does the opposite: real market figures, the factors that actually change a quote, and a plain description of what a fair deliverable looks like at each price point.
Pulling together the published price guides and rate cards we could find, here is where the market sits in mid-2026. These are typical figures for a single residential listing, not large commercial sites or mapping work.

Two caveats worth knowing. First, the bottom of the US range often means an add-on: a handful of aerial frames bolted onto a ground photography shoot for $75–$200, not a standalone drone session. Second, the ranges above are for listings. Land mapping, orthomosaics and inspection work are priced differently — usually per acre or per structure — and sit well above these figures.
When two quotes for the same address differ by $300, it's rarely because one pilot is greedy. It's because the quotes contain different work. These are the levers:

The line that matters most in that table is usage rights, because it's the one buyers forget to check. Some operators licence images for a single listing and charge again if you reuse them on your agency website or a sale board. Get the rights in writing before the drone leaves its case.
Expect $150–$350 (£120–£300) for a solid photo-only session and $350–$700 (£300–£600) with video, delivered in 2–3 days with commercial usage rights. In Cyprus we currently charge €60 for the first and €125 for the second at launch rates. Anything cheaper: check the licence. Anything pricier: check what extra you're actually getting.
You'll meet both models. Hourly rates for drone work run $150–$400 in the US and £50–£200 in the UK, and they make sense for open-ended jobs — events, film work, long inspections — where nobody knows in advance how much flying is needed.
For a listing, packages win, and it isn't close. A real estate shoot is a known quantity: an experienced pilot knows the shot list before arriving, so you shouldn't pay for their learning curve or their traffic. A package converts the operator's efficiency into your price certainty — you know the number, the photo count and the delivery date before you commit. If someone quotes a listing by the hour, ask why. The honest answer is usually that a package would have been cheaper for you.

For some properties it's decorative. For others it's the difference between a buyer understanding the property and not. Aerial photography earns its fee when the value of the property lies in things a ground-level camera physically cannot show: plot size and boundaries, distance to the coast, orientation and light, neighbouring development, access roads, the pool in relation to the house.
In practice that means land parcels, villas, rural properties and anything with a view justify the spend almost automatically — a buyer scrolling a portal simply gets more information per second from one aerial frame than from five ground shots. For the estate agents we shoot for across Cyprus, that first aerial is usually the one doing the selling: in our experience buyers scroll straight past the interior photos and stop on the frame that shows the plot, the pool and the coastline in one view. Aerial imagery also signals effort — listings shot properly stand out in a feed of phone photos. For a mid-terrace apartment with no outdoor space, save the money. Always compare deliverables, not just totals — a cheaper quote with fewer usage rights is often the more expensive one.

For properties with exterior lighting, a pool or a sea view, yes — twilight frames are rare in listing feeds and stop the scroll. The premium reflects a 20–30 minute usable window that one property fills entirely. For a standard home on a budget, a golden-hour daytime shoot gets you most of the way at the normal rate.
Yes, for any commercial shoot. In Cyprus and the wider EU that means EASA-compliant registration and pilot certification; the US requires FAA Part 107; the UK requires CAA registration. Unlicensed flights risk fines, and the operator's insurance — if it exists — generally won't pay out on an illegal flight.
